Climate Change essay

Climate change is a long term drift in weather patterns. It gradually increases the temperature of our planet. Climate change incorporates Global warming.

Weather change is mostly a natural phenomenon but since 1800, main driver of climate change are human activities.

Climate change is a global problem. The planet is warming because of the growing level of greenhouse gas emissions from human activity. If this trend continues, truly catastrophic consequences are likely to ensue from rising sea levels to reduced water availability, to more heat waves and fires.

 Malcolm Turnbull

Burning of fossils and other gases trap heat into the atmosphere which in turn, increases the temperature.

Climate change refers two main aspects:

  1. Rise in Temperature Globally
  2. Effects of Global warming on planet

Causes of Climate Change:

Change in climate naturally:

Sometimes, rise in global warming is due to the natural phenomena like volcanic eruption or fluctuation in solar radiation.

Volcanic Eruption:

Volcanic eruption is the release of huge amount of different gases- lava from volcano.

Eruption of molten rock or the hot rock fragments have ultimately high temperature. Emission of high temperature gases increases the temperature of the atmosphere. These gases trap in the thick layer of the atmosphere which encompasses to temperature rise.

It leads to the changes in climate ultimately rise in global temperature. It results severe rise in temperature which leaves long lasting effects on the climate.

Fluctuation in Solar Radiation:

Sun is the main source of heat. When there is rise in temperature due to sunlight, then solar radiations may cause rise in global temperature.

Our atmosphere is a thick layer around the space. It prevents earth surface from the poisonous gases coming from sun.

These gases once entered the atmosphere, cannot escape from it. When these gases hit the earth surface, the gases of longer wavelength try to go back into the atmosphere.  But due to ultra-thick layer, these cannot go out and are trapped into it.

When these gases trap into the atmosphere, these increase the temperature of earth.

This intense increase in earth’s temperature leads to the climate change-Global warming.

Climate Changes due to Human Activities:

Since 1900’s, human have become the main driver of climate shifts. Human activities like burning of fossils, manufacturing different chemicals or products, stabilizing industries and cutting trees are the main factors that lead to climate change. All these encompass Global warming.

Manufacturing of Goods:

Main source of energy for manufacturing products are the burning of fossils.

Burning of fossil fuels ultimately rises the temperature of the earth. Some molecules of the scattered gases increase the temperature of earth.  Emission of gases traps into the atmosphere. This gradually rises the temperature. This shift in temperature leads to Climate drift.

Deforestation:

Deforestation is the cutting down of trees. Trees are the source of breathing to this planet. Cutting down trees, lead to climate drift.

“One thing leads to the other. Deforestation leads to climate change, which leads to ecosystem losses, which negatively impacts our livelihoods – it’s a vicious cycle.”

Gisele Bundchen

Forests clean air and purify environment. These are the source of precipitation on earth.

Climate change is real. It is happening right now, it is the most urgent threat facing our entire species and we need to work collectively together and stop procrastinating.”

Leonardo Di Caprio, Environmentalist

Trees are also the source of rain fall. Cutting down of trees lead to the decrease in rainfall which may lead to draughts. Draughts are also a severe effect of climate change. SO, afforestation must be promoted to cease these climatic shifts.

Effects of Climate Change:

Melting of Glaciers:

Global warming is the main cause of melting glaciers. Some countries have their main water resources in frozen form. When there is a rise in temperature these glaciers are molten. In this way, these may be a leading cause of the havocs like floods.

Melting of glaciers may lead to the scarcity of water resources. It is also a crucial form of climate shift.

Rise in Earth’s Temperature:

Some scattered gas molecules are responsible to the rise in earth’s temperature. These trapped molecules increase the heat trapped into the atmosphere.

Diseases spreading because of climate change:

Many diseases like skin cancer or burning of skin is caused by the heat waves. When trapped gases affect the layer of atmosphere like chlorofluorocarbons, causes depletion of the layer of atmosphere. Poisonous gases coming from sun, directly hit the livings on earth escaping from ‘Ozone hole’.

These are main cause of skin cancer and many other skin diseases.

Management of climate changes leads to four broad categories:

  1. Mitigation: effort to decrease greenhouse gas emission which is leading source to Global climatic shift.
  2. Adaptation: Increasing the people’s capacity to cope with the climatic shifts. So that these have minor effects on livings.
  3. Geo-engineering: Manipulation to earth deliberately that will have a counter act to cope with some changing effects in climate.
  4. Enhanced Knowledge based conception:

Increasing information about the causes and effects of climate shift=hence, driving new adaptations to manage any climatic scarcity.
